Sparrow Falls signs deal with Amsterdam Recording Company

Press release: Amsterdam Recording Company (ARC) and Sparrow Falls raise their glasses! The six-piece post-punk/rock band from the south of The Netherlands and ARC signed a deal for the release of the band’s new EP ‘Maelstrom’. The release is set for October 15th, 2013 and, like all ARC releases, will be distributed in the Benelux through Suburban.

Sparrow Falls was formed in 2005 and plays a unique mix of raw, honest punk rock and dramatic rock, with a pinch of 80’s rock, country, folk and Americana. Their debut album ‘Tides’ was well received and kicked off an intensive touring period, which brought the band all the way to Albania. In their homeland there was plenty of attention as well. The band was invited for the Dutch travelling festival PopRonde and won the Audience Award during the finals of Heineken’s Grote Prijs van Nederland, the biggest live music competition of the Netherlands. In the meantime Sparrow Falls continued writing new songs, which resulted in ‘Maelstrom’. For this follow up to their debut album, the band hit the studio again with Igor Wouters (GOLD, White Slice, Bullerslug). This time Amsterdam Recording Company was the studio of choice. The character of the band and the studio’s sound turned out to be a perfect match.

Amsterdam Recording Company is a recording studio housing classic equipment in a unique work environment. The founders of ARC have spent the last ten years carefully searching for vintage equipment around the world. This equipment brings back the sound of the past decades. The studio is located in a historic building, built as a warehouse by the Royal Dutch Steamboat Company. At the heart of the studio is a unique and superb Polygram mixing console from 1972. A great diversity of bands have found their way to ARC, such as The Kills, Elle Bandita, Gewapend Beton, Joe Bonamassa, Obits, Pien Feith and Die Kreuzen.
The idea to start up a record label came forth from ARC’s founders’ shared passion for music and was fed by the urge to give cool (unsigned) bands that record at their studio a chance to expose their work.

To kick off the release of ‘Maelstrom’, Sparrow Falls invites you to come and celebrate this event on October 12th, 2013 at Muziekgieterij Maastricht, where special guest Tim Vantol and support act When There is None will accompany them.
